The entire Heliconia Caribea team wishes you a safe Christmas and New Year's Eve
We hope that you will stay safe and protect your loved ones during the end of this complicated year.
During 2020, many of our activities like our restaurants such as the Kome in Willemstad , Curaçao, and the Igloo, in Sallen, France, had to compose with the actual pandemic and craziness invading the world. Proposing take away solutions to our customers concerning the restaurants, we still managed to keep up and face the situation. Arakele, our sewing school in Addis-Ababa, the Ethiopian capital, got to teach students to produce scarf-masks, a brilliant innovation to adapt the style to the situation.
Other activities such as Alpasion got excellent rewards during the year, such as our Grand Cabernet Franc that won 3 medals at the London Wine competition, and also the Inga foundation that got rewarded at the World Economic Forum in October. Due to the pandemic and the constant need of medical workers, Altrix has been going through a flourishing year and helped many to find jobs in hospitals close to their location, permitting nurses to enter in action and save many.
Beside this, Heliconia Caribea also evolved, recruiting two employees to help us on the various projects in our office located in Nonant, France. In 2021, the five of us will work on the projects to make them reach a whole new step. Altrix and nurses have never been that needed.
Here’s an update from Altrix concerning our growing work during this Covid-19 pandemic:
Frameworks:
“I am delighted to say that we are now operating under the new CCS/LPP Workforce Alliance framework which went live on 13th November. We have also learned that we have been accepted on to the HTE framework which goes live on 16th January 2020. This is incredibly positive news as these are the only two recognised frameworks for the NHS. They open the door to working with NHS Trusts more easily and getting substantial forward visibility of future shifts giving us more time for our technology to deliver nurses. To re-iterate the importance, in the first 72 hrs of being on the framework we had ten new Trusts either sign us straight up or start the discussion to do so. These contracts will run for between three and five years. “
Trusts / Hours delivered:
Due to effective Covid hospital closures to elective surgery, two months ago we were supplying ~ 1,000 hrs per week (down from ~ 4,000 in April 2020). Since then we have grown rapidly and last week delivered 4,000 hrs again and expect to do 4,400 hrs this week. Hours are growing rapidly and we are tracking to our revised model. We are confident this number will continue to grow as long as hospitals keep wards and electives open.
We currently have over thirty NHS Trusts engaged. The ease of acquiring hospitals compared to being an off-framework supplier is night and day and we expect this number to keep growing.
Nurses:
We have a record number of nurses registering again and now have ~ 2,800 nurses registered with Altrix of which 370 are fully compliant but this number will roughly double in the next six to eight weeks as we bring expired compliant nurses back in to compliance.
Because we now have more Trusts to offer and greater shift visibility, we have noticed an increase in nurse compliance activity and have added resource to the compliance team. Given the growth in shifts, the imperative is to continue to sign up as many nurses as quickly as possible, take them through our rigorous compliance procedure, and get them working asap. We suddenly have far more shifts than nurses – a complete reversal. We are also contacting all Altrix registered nurses to bring them into compliance, which we have not wanted to do historically due to a lack of shifts.
Technology:
Our app is still the main driving force for shift bookings with 90% of bookings completed by our nurses via the app. The feedback continues to be really positive and we have had some great reviews on TrustPilot. You can review them here: (https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/altrix.co.uk)
The app is working well and we are looking at new and exciting services we can provide via the app. We are also still in discussions with the NHS main supplier of shift management software to work in partnership with them for an API to allow our technologies to link up without human interaction. We now expect this to go live in Q3 2021. In addition, as part of our drive for automation we have implemented a new pay and bill system to manage the nurse payments and invoicing allowing us to scale as the number of shifts grows without further finance headcount.
